Pre-Swinging London by Andrew Loog Oldham

Here is a piece about the early sixties era in London by Andrew Loog Oldham, the Rolling Stones’ first manager and producer and more recently a DJ on Little Steven’s Underground Garage on Sirius XM.

This gives a great personal reflection on the revolution in music, fashion and style of that time, from someone who was there in the thick of it.

Andrew’s memoirs (Rolling Stoned, among them) were among the inspirational source books for me in writing What is the Chance?, and are just great reads in general for those with an interest in that time.

  1. Thanks for sending this piece by Andrew Loog Oldham. Loog is such a fine name, odd that we don’t hear it more often in today’s young families. ALO was just 19 when he started managing the Rolling Stones. Quite a career he’s had. I give him credit for DJing at age 71 too. I read about him on Wikipedia also. He grew up in England although his mother was Australian and his father was a US Air Force lieutenant. Hmm.
