While writing my recent novel, What is the Chance?, I needed to understand how music publishing worked in the 1960’s, both in the US and the UK. Everyone has heard stories of unscrupulous producers/agents/publishers/moguls ripping off unsuspecting artists. After digging into the details, I can easily see how that happened.
Here’s a piece that gives a good view of the process – from a lawyer with a bit of wit.

Here is a piece about the early sixties era in London by Andrew Loog Oldham, the Rolling Stones’ first manager and producer and more recently a DJ on Little Steven’s Underground Garage on Sirius XM.
This gives a great personal reflection on the revolution in music, fashion and style of that time, from someone who was there in the thick of it.
Andrew’s memoirs (Rolling Stoned, among them) were among the inspirational source books for me in writing What is the Chance?, and are just great reads in general for those with an interest in that time.
